Screenings

School Films - Shorts
Curatorship Douglas Resende, Mariana Siqueira and Rachel Aranha

The School Films section screenings will be held at Cine Arte UFF. The curators will present a selection of short films produced within a school environment in each of the five countries. Five 90-minute screenings will be held, one per nation, followed by a debate.

Competition - First or Second Feature Film
Curatorship Reinaldo Cardenuto

Each member country will be allowed to nominate films selected through a survey with liaisons from each country. The jury members will be appointed by Niterói’s Municipal Office of Culture and the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The pictures will be screened in five sessions at Cine Reserva. Awards will be given during the closing ceremony, and films will compete in two best film categories, the Jury Award and the Audience Award.

BRICS Classics
Curatorship Profs. Dr. João Luiz Vieira and Dr. Rafael de Luna Freire

The BRICS Classics section will provide an opportunity to experience masterpieces of Brazilian, Russian, Indian, Chinese, and South-African cinema. Ten restored films of different styles and from different eras will be screened at Cine Arte UFF, one of the best film theatres in Brazil when it comes to sound and projection quality. The BRICS Classics programme will allow the audience to discover the richness offered by the cinema produced in Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, including outstanding films barely known outside their own countries.

Animation Films
Curatorship Prof. Ms. Daniel Pinna

For the very first time in the BRICS Film Festival, animated films will be given a very special place. Five screenings, one per nation, will be held at Cine Arte UFF to an audience of Niterói public school students in another effort to promote and foster interest in the film art form.
