Akyns are poets in the kazak culture that improvise in form of a song-like recitative with the accompaniment of a dombra. Jiahenur, a prestigious akyn in his region, is our guide in a musical journey through the life of the kazaks in the chinese city of Kanzu, his hometown. All voice over in the documentary has been improvised by Jiahenur and the dombra solos are played by Alaxi, his son.
