Kids and adults who love animated films will have an exciting time during the 4th BRICS Film Festival. The event, organised by the Fluminense Federal University (UFF) in cooperation with the City Government of Niterói, will feature a special section dedicated to animated films, with screenings from 7 to 9 October at Cine Arte UFF and Reserva Cultural. The section was curated by Daniel Pinna, a professor at the UFF Film School. “The selection has leaned towards recent films that showcase the potential of the developing animation film industry in the five countries. And we have chosen films aimed at the school-age audience, since the morning sessions were planned for students from Niterói schools, ”says Pinna.
The Brazilian film in the programme is Alê McHaddo’s GadgetGang in Outer Space, an adventure about a group of friends, members of the GadgetGang club, who find seven aliens and set out on a space mission to restore peace in the universe. Norm of the North, from India, tells the story of a polar bear that learns how to speak the language of humans. In the Russian production The Three Heroes: The Heiress to the Throne, three knights must escort a young princess who was chosen to inherit the throne back to her country. The Chinese animation Toys & Pets is about a porcelain toy that tries to restore its ability to change colour. And Khumba, from South Africa, tells the story of a little zebra that is born half-striped.
