Activities began on Monday 23 September in Niterói
Last Monday 23 September, the 4th BRICS Film Festival, held for the first time in the city of Niterói, State of Rio de Janeiro, kicked off its activities. This first week three courses on South African, Chinese, and Indian Film History are being offered to enrolled students, free of charge. The Russian and Soviet Film History course begins on 30 September.
Foreign lecturers from the BRICS countries are teaching the classes, and simultaneous translation is available. The aim of the courses is to provide an in-depth view of the different eras and styles of each country’s cinema, offering students the opportunity to experience rare films. Professors Shi Chuan (China), Ashish Rajadhyaksha (India), Martin Petrus Botha (South Africa), and Peter Bagrov (Russia) arrived in Brazil last weekend and will stay with us during the entire Festival, for they will not only teach the film history courses but also take part in other activities of the 4th BRICS Film Festival. On Monday (23 Sep), the Chinese and South African Film History courses started in the InterArtes Room, at the Institute of Art and Media (IACS) of the Fluminense Federal University. The Indian Film History course is being held at Reserva Cultural, Room 1, at 2:00 pm. The Russian and Soviet Film History course will start only next Monday 30 September, also in the InterArtes Room at IACS, at 2:00 pm. All courses are 4 hours long, and only enrolled students will be allowed to attend classes.
